The origin institution for Speech Gap and the speech and language technology partner in this ecosystem.

Role

• IP owner. Original assignee of the Speech Gap patent family (WO2020128542A1 / US12161481B2), with a 2025 partial transfer to SZTE TTC Zrt., the university’s technology-transfer company.
• Research home. Dr. Gábor Gosztolya is an Assistant Professor here (and Senior Research Fellow at HUN-REN Hungarian Research Centre for Linguistics).
• Clinical origin. The original Speech Gap research group was oriented toward dementia and neurocognitive-impairment detection, which is why the underlying Java package carries the name demencia and why the respiratory extension is a new requirement rather than an existing feature.

Ecosystem position

Named in the workshop’s expected outcome as one of the institutions the collaboration map should link: ELTE, Semmelweis University, Szeged University, international clinical and AI partners, Argus Cognitive, and the Hungarian healthtech ecosystem.

The university’s technology-transfer office is also already inside Erik Szabó’s White Unicorn network, alongside Pécs, Debrecen and Pannonia — a pre-existing channel between this ecosystem and the venture layer.
